About Hospice of the Hills:

.....As part of the Centra Health Network, Lynchburg's Hospice of the Hills offers service and care to people with terminal illnesses and their families. As every person has the right to live and die with peace, dignity, and comfort, hospice care provides a team-oriented approach to expert medical care, pain management, and emotional and spiritual support tailored to the patient's individual needs and wishes, with support extended to loved ones.

.....
According to National Hospice Foundation research, the top four services most important for those with less than six months to live are:
.....• Someone to make certain their wishes are honored;
.....• Ability to choose the type of care/services they receive;
.....• Control of pain tailored to their wishes and needs; and
.....• Emotional support for them and their family.

PACE Experience:

.....Students in this class will receive special training from Hospice staff and will volunteer 4-5 hours per week on-site assisting patients, families, and staff. You will work with team members and become an integral part of a patient's care and transition process. Students should have reliable transportation as you may sometimes be called upon to assist with the physical needs of the patient or family through this transition and bereavement process.
